Professional storyteller, actor, and writer Monica Matsakis leads this 6-week session focused on the art and craft of personal storytelling.
Beginning with the basics of narrative structure, balancing vulnerability and comedy, and writing essays for performance, students will develop, write, and practice performing original stories from their own lives. At the end of the session, the class will perform a Student Showcase on Saturday, May 10th (coached and directed by the instructor).
Designed for beginner to advanced storytellers, new students will be introduced to the foundations of narrative storytelling, and returning students will be challenged to incorporate techniques to make their material stronger.
The 6-week class moves quickly and new concepts are introduced each week, so potential students should be mindful of attendance conflicts that may hinder their ability to get the most out of the class.
